For 2025, we are changing the Nearshore Halibut & Rockfish Combo to a Full Day Flatfish trip. The Nearshore Halibut trip was initially created as an option to fish for halibut inside the 40 fathom line during years when the all-depth halibut fishery was only open on select weekends. Since the all-depth fishery is open 7 days a week, there’s no reason to have to stay inside the 40 fathom line to fish for them on any given day, especially since the success rate for catching halibut in these shallower areas was very low. Most people enjoyed the trip because of it was a longer day but not 12 hours, moderately priced, and had a small chance at halibut but a very good opportunity to bring home some kind of fish regardless. The Full Day Flatfish trip meets those needs with an 8 hour day, a $210 price point, and the opportunity to target delicious Petrale Sole and other flatfish species including Sand Dabs, Arrowtooth Flounder, and California Halibut. Each fisherman can retain up to 25 of these fish and still have a chance of catching up to 2 Pacific Halibut. You can also add crabbing for $25 per person. These trips are best during calmer weather June-September.
