Trip Schedule 8/20 – 8/27 & Tuna Dates

Good morning folks! It’s been pretty busy around here, but last week our captains did get a little break due to some bad weather (though that’s not exactly a good thing!). This week tuna has continued to do well, our boats brought back 47 and 44 on Thursday which was the last day we were on tuna. Bottom fishing has lagged a bit this week, but is improving. Salmon is still fairly slow trying to find the fish when they keep moving around so much and crabbing is still very good! Here’s the schedule of open trips for the next week: Monday 8/20 – 1/2 day Rockfish/crab & 1/2 day Salmon/crab Tuesday 8/21 – 8 Hour Salmon/crab Wednesday 8/22 – 1/2 day Rockfish/crab Thursday 8/23 – Tuna (7 spots) & 1/2 Rockfish/crab & afternoon Whale … Read entire article »

Reports & Trip Update

Reports & Trip Update

Good morning! This has been a better than expected weather week for us here in Newport. When the hot forecast came out early in the week we were expecting to see crippling winds that would cancel our tuna and halibut trips Thursday-Sunday, but thankfully the forecast was better than expected and we’ve been able to get out there every day. Tuna have been averaging consistently in the 35-50 range per boat (10 people) and yesterday … Read entire article »

In Season Updates: Tuna, Rockfish, Crabbing & Coho!

Beautiful day out on the water yesterday and a huge number of boats to show for it! The Crackerjack brought home 35 tuna for its group of 10, found them about 28 miles out. The Gracie K almost got limits on its rockfishing trip and dragged in a lot of crab from the trip and the afternoon bay crab. They also caught two big ling cod and a couple average ones. Today the CJ and GK trade place with the GK taking its turn on tuna and the CJ jigging for blackies and lings. Should be another really nice day on the water! Salmon update: Coho salmon retention closes on July 31st and remains closed throughout August. We do not have any salmon trips running this week until Sunday 8/5 when … Read entire article »
