In Season Updates: Tuna, Rockfish, Crabbing & Coho!

Beautiful day out on the water yesterday and a huge number of boats to show for it! The Crackerjack brought home 35 tuna for its group of 10, found them about 28 miles out. The Gracie K almost got limits on its rockfishing trip and dragged in a lot of crab from the trip and the afternoon bay crab. They also caught two big ling cod and a couple average ones. Today the CJ and GK trade place with the GK taking its turn on tuna and the CJ jigging for blackies and lings. Should be another really nice day on the water!

Salmon update: Coho salmon retention closes on July 31st and remains closed throughout August. We do not have any salmon trips running this week until Sunday 8/5 when we have room left on a 10 hour Salmon/Rockfish combo. Only Chinook will be legal to retain for August. However: for those of you who want to get in some good salmon fishing be sure to reserve September 1-3 and 6-8 on your calendars! These are the first 6 dates for the Non-Selective Salmon season when Coho re-opens and ALL Coho (not just fin-clipped!) are legal to retain as well as Chinook. This later season was HOT last September and didn’t last long, so be sure to get in on either the first or second openings because the 10,000 fish quota will go fast!

Here’s the schedule for the next available tuna trips:
Monday 7/31 – 3 spots CJ
Wednesday 8/1 – 2 spots GK, 3 spots CJ
Thursday 8/2 – 4 spots CJ
Monday 8/6 – open boat & 3 spots
Tuesday 8/7 – open boat
Thursday 8/9 – 1 spot
Saturday 8/11 – 1 spot CJ
Sunday 8/12 – 1 spot
Monday 8/13 – 4 spots GK
Wednesday 8/15 – open boat
Sunday 8/19 – 1 spot CJ & 2 spots GK
Tuesday 8/21 – 7 spots
Thursday 8/23 – open boat GK
