Just a reminder!

Chinook Salmon season is open as of today… We haven’t taken a trip for them yet because this weekend is booked with bottom fishing trips, but we’ll get out later on when other boats have done the work of finding them for us! Nice trip today, but a little slow on the bite. Usually when the water temperature drops a few degrees over a short period of time it slows the metabolism of the rockfish so they eat less and it takes longer for us to catch our limits that way. Still pretty good fishing though, and the Crackerjack has another full trip tomorrow. Hope you all are enjoying your Memorial Day Weekend so far! … Read entire article »

Another Halibut weekend

Last weekend's Halibut was pretty tough with a fast drift and some choppy seas, but our boats faired pretty well overall. This week we had a weather cancellation on Thursday because of one of our famous Oregon Coast storms, but we made it out Friday and Saturday. The picture is from the Crackerjack's catch on Saturday. Halibut Opener!

Both boats went out for halibut on the first day of the season yesterday. The ocean made for a rough ride and a fast drift, which is hard on some of our beginning fishermen, but the day went well overall. Both boats limited despite slow fishing, and the size of the fish grade was pretty good, but we'll be looking forward to larger halibut in the next couple trips. This afternoon we expect the Sea Quell to drop some big Halibut on the docks after the Crackerjack brings home the bacon…err.. rockfish… Captain Jack should be able to take a picture or two for me to put up and get you all excited for the season! Both boats go out for Halibut again on Saturday and I'll keep you posted on how … Read entire article »

Early May bottom trip

Well the Crackerjack went fishing yesterday on a sporty ocean and the Sea Quell went out today.   Fishing started slow on Saturday but things turned around in a hurry with a good grade of black bass and some nice lings thrown into the mix.  As the weather got nicer so did the fishing!   The Sea Quell made short work of it today by slaying some great Blacks and then also picking up two cabezon and a couple more good Lings. Captain Art said they even hooked a Coho Salmon today so hopefully thats a good sign for this years Salmon season.   Have a good day all. … Read entire article »
