The Crackerjack had a great day out on the tuna quest yesterday and came back with 36! That makes 4 fish per person which is 16 loins and approximately 30 lbs of meat! We have two spots left for this Friday and 3 spots left for Saturday, should be great fishing this weekend!  P.S. Bottom fishing is doing well too! Salmon is still a little slow, but doing ok as well. We look forward to hearing from you!  … Read entire article »

Slowing Salmon

We had a great time while it lasted, but Salmon is starting to slow a little again. Yesterday they caught several natives, as usual, but weren’t able to find enough hatchery fish to get more than an average of one per person. Still good fishing, but we know a lot of people would prefer more catching. The Crackerjack is out for tuna today and the Sea Quell is out for rockfish. The wind is starting to pick up a bit again, but we are so grateful for the wonderfully calm two weeks we just had out there. Now it’s back to the usual, bumpy August ocean. A couple spots came available for tuna on Friday and Saturday, and a few still left for Salmon on Thursday. Give us a call with any … Read entire article »

Still Catching Coho!

The Crackerjack and Sea Quell are both out hunting down coho today with full boats. The salmon have still been going strong, we’re consistently getting into them and bringing home good numbers! Still a lot of natives we have to sort through, but it’s great fishing! The Crackerjack runs another Salmon tomorrow before returning to the tuna quest on Wednesday. They are in about 30 to 35 miles right now and we have 3 spots left on Wednesday and Saturday due to cancellations so you should snatch them up! Halibut was great this weekend and I’ll put some pictures up soon! Next open weekend is the 21st-23rd and we only have room left on the 21st now. Reserve your spots before they’re gone! … Read entire article »

We love hearing from our customers!

Here’s an email and picture that Brenda Raub sent us this week: “Rob caught a 29″ silver on Thursday July 30th with Yaquina Bay Charters! It was a great day of fishing. We caught our limit in Salmon, we caught some rock fish, and we watched numerous whales breaching! I’ll be back every year.” Thanks for the email, Brenda and Rob! We look forward to taking you out again next year! The salmon are still red hot right now, we’re catching lots of natives and fin-clipped silvers coming really close or making limits with each trip! Six hour trips have been more successful this week than in past weeks, so now’s the time to go before it slows down again! The tuna are playing hard to get with us this week as the trip … Read entire article »

It’s August Already??

To sum it all up, tuna fishing this weekend was consistently good. We averaged two fish per person with catches of 22 or 21 each day with our max of 10 fisherman on the boat, and everyone got to fish at the same time and said they had a very fun time! Most of the catch was around average 20lbs or so, but they also brought in some huge albacore around 35lbs! We have some south wind in the forecast this week which should push them closer and makes our Thursday and Saturday trips look pretty good. Salmon fishing has turned on again as Captain Art turned in 20 fish yesterday which included limits for his 6 passengers and two crew fish! Captain Jack is taking his shot at the coho today and then switching … Read entire article »

Fighting Tuna!

Any of these guys can tell you that fighting tuna is definitely a workout! The Crackerjack is on it’s last tuna trip today and then will have a much needed break for salmon and bottom fishing before the next tuna on Thursday. The Sea Quell will probably have to wait another week for tuna as it looks like they probably won’t get close enough by Thursday for Captain Art to take his shot. We’re crossing our fingers for them to be in close around the 15th. … Read entire article »
