Bottom Fishing and Crabbing With Yaquina Bay Charters!

Join our experienced crews for light tackle trips chasing rockfish and lingcod in depths as shallow as 30’ and up to 150’ of water.  These trips are great for anglers of all experience levels.  Novice fisherman will benefit from detailed instructions by our crews while experienced anglers will be able to finely tune their fishing techniques. Unlike many other charter offices we limit the amount of people allowed on the boat so that everyone has room to fish without tangling or being crowded. The usual result of going on one of our near shore fishing trips is lots of fish and a great experience for everyone on the boat.
These trips leave at 7AM in the spring and summer time and 8AM in the winter time.  If you want you can add crabbing to any bottom fishing trip for an additional fee.  The season for bottom fish is year round.

Albacore Tuna Fishing Trips!

                Let us take you out on an Oregon coast fishing experience like no other.  Tuna come to Oregon in the summer months following warm water currents.  In the early season come along with us as we troll for hungry fish.  When the conditions are right the early fish snap at just about anything that is trolled in front of them.  The result is big catches of fish and tired fisherman.  Later in the season as the fish start to get used to the area and start showing themselves by jumping we also add in some light tackle fishing by casting lures to the jumpers.  Then, in the late season when the fish are getting big, (some 40 pounds or more) we add in some extra tricks to help catch fish that aren’t interested in normal techniques. Many people find that just being anywhere from 30-60 miles offshore is an experience in itself.  On any given trip for tuna you could see Humpback whales, Orcas, Seals and Sea lions, huge sharks, monster jellyfish, and possibly even some exotic fish more suited to tropical environments. Like all our fishing trips, we limit the amount of people on board so you have a better experience.  We only allow ten people on the Crackerjack at a time.  This way everyone has a better chance of getting lots of fish. Halibut Season

Halibut fishing is something that isn’t open very much in Oregon.  So why ruin your trip by going with someone who packs you on a boat so tight you don’t even get your own pole to fish with the whole time?  That doesn’t happen with us.  When you go fishing with Yaquina Bay Charters everyone on board gets their own pole to fish with until they catch a fish they want to keep.  With low limits on halibut no one wants to keep the first fish they catch, unless of course it’s a great big one!
Our captains have spent years finding great halibut spots so that you can be sure to have the best chance of catching a quality fish.  We take care to help teach people what a bite will feel like, and how to properly reel your fish in so that you’re not worn out and so you have the best chance to keep from losing it. Halibut season usually opens briefly in May.  Then if quota is left over we get to keep fishing in June and July.  If quota isn’t left over we have to wait until August to go out and chase halibut again.

Newport Coho Salmon Charter Fishing Trips

The salmon fishing near Newport can be fabulous.  Join us for great trips chasing coho and Chinook salmon (when seasons are open) anywhere from 1 mile to 15 miles from the shore.  Trolling for salmon can be one of the craziest experiences when you get into a big school of coho!  The fish are ferocious predators and put on up to a pound a week when in the ocean.  It’s not uncommon to have over half the poles on the boat with a fish on all at once.  Like all our trips space is limited for your comfort so book ahead of time so you can get a spot.
Salmon season usually starts in mid June and lasts at least until July.  But seasons vary so check with us for exact dates.
